Book Review: Dump 'Em How To Break Up With Anyone… by Jodyne L Speyer
Is your hairdresser getting under your scalp? Does your therapist drive you crazy? Do your co-workers or your boss make you want to hang yourself in your own cubicle?
Then the book Dump ‘Em: How to Break Up with Anyone from Your Best Friend to Your Hairdresser by Jodyne L. Speyer is for you. It’s chock full of common-sense, realistic and tactful advice on how to get those sort of people out of our lives. That is, those with whom we are in a limited, but still intimate sort of relationship with. She breaks it all down simply and talks about what to do even if her own advice fails. And gives examples from her own life on how she’s handled it. As a “recovered avoider” herself. She admits to all of the mistakes we all make. Such as the overall drive not to hurt anyone’s feelings no matter how annoyed we are at them.
Not to mention the fact that Ms. Speyer is wickedly funny. And she uses humor in a way that doesn’t downplay any of the really good advice she gives. She also gives advice on how to find someone to replace the service provider you’ve dumped.
My advice is that everyone should have a copy of this book in their home. Even if you don’t need to dump someone right now, you never know when you might have to one day. And while bookstores are full of books on how to dump your romantic partner who is not turning out to be the Prince Charming you hoped for, there are none that tell you in such a realistic and funny way how to dump all of those Other people that we have to deal with on a personal basis from day to day.
Suffice it to say, this book is Very Funny and Highly Recommended.
