Where To Take Tea
A newly updated 2008 trade paperback of Susan Cohen’s Where To Take Tea caught my eye last week. This slim volume begins with a fairly brief history of tea then lists the author’s picks of the best tea rooms throughout Britain. From Buckingham Palace and all the fancy hotels, to Harrod’s Department Store and various tea rooms from the “relaxed afternoon tea” to “tea in a very grand setting”, Cohen provides addresses, phone numbers and hours of operation for each establishment as well as details on the particular teas and pastries offered at each. I found it pleasant for a bit of armchair travel, though it would be a completely practical guide book for anyone who lives in or plans to visit the United Kingdom. Recommended.
